Part 1: Toxic Sediment clean-up at Randle Reef

The design work is underway on a massive underwater containment facility at Randle Reef.   It's a project that will take 630 thousand cubic metres of coal tar and other contaminated material out of the environment.

Many species are stuck until water quality takes the next step, but big strides have been made towards the restoration of both plant species and fish populations in the Cootes Paradise "nursery".

Part 4: Beach Clean-Up

Geese and gulls get most of the blame, for the fact that beaches along the West Harbour are closed more than 80% of the time during the summer because of high bacteria levels.

Part 5: Status of Progress

It would be a dramatic image changer, and an economic boon for Hamilton, should it reach the goal of delisting the harbour as a pollution hotspot. The pressure would then fall on the community to sustain those accomplishments.
